SafeCare Parent Support Provider

We are actively looking for individuals who want to help families thrive. This is a position with paid training that will provide you with the tools to keep children safe in their homes and educate parents with an evidence-based program.

Must Haves:
1) An ability to connect with adults and small children (birth to 5 years).
2) Comfortable with meeting new people and interacting with them in their home.
3) Are caring and supportive.
4) Can be coached and trained to the specifics of this position.
5) Live in the Southeast Colorado area.
6) Graduated from high school or have a GED.
7) Have an active driver’s license and can drive your own vehicle up to 5 days per week.

Position Summary
The SafeCare Parent Support Provider will work with a straightforward, evidence-based intervention program through the Kempe Center. SafeCare Colorado is voluntary, evidence based, home visiting program with specific protocols to work specifically with parents in served communities. This position will work primarily in the home setting with parents to meet these protocols by providing assessments, modeling behaviors, role playing, and provides feedback to parents in the SafeCare program.

Productivity and Expectations:
The SafeCare Parent Support Provider position is an essential component to the success of High Plains Community Health Center (HPCHC). This position is expected to prioritize time and responsibilities in the following manner:

75%: Home Visits
Demonstrate strong engagement skills to recruit and retain clients in a voluntary, home- based service.
Attend SafeCare Colorado Home Visitor Training and pass all requirements for full certification.
Understand and adhere to SafeCare module protocol.
Make initial enrollment telephone calls to families referred to SafeCare Colorado.
Ensure the confidentiality of the families that are involved in the SafeCare program.
Carry a full caseload of clients once fully certified.
Use scanner and computer to upload required documents and information to Kempe Center SharePoint Site and SafeCare Colorado Portal on a weekly basis.
Entering homes that may be in disarray, without utilities, include pets, and have strong odors.
Traveling to homes in seven surrounding counties.
Meet weekly with SafeCare Colorado Supervisor.

20%: Marketing and Community Promotion
Identify agencies within the community that service clients who may benefit from SafeCare Colorado and facilitate the agency’s ability to provide referrals to SafeCare.
Participate in outreach efforts to community agencies using marketing material provided by the Kempe Center.
Outreach efforts include but are not limited to: giving presentations, attending conferences, handing out flyers, meeting with ground level staff, etc.
Log outreach efforts and maintain regular contact with agencies while simultaneously expanding efforts to increase outreach in order to maintain a strong referral base and establish a positive reputation within the communities served by SafeCare.

5%: Research
Complete training on research protocols, data collections and assessments used for research components of SafeCare Colorado.
May be asked to assist with surveys in research efforts driven by Kempe Center research or affiliated universities.

Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Associate degree in human services such as social work, sociology, or psychology preferred.
Current Driver’s License, active auto insurance, and working vehicle required.
Experience working with families and children, community services, human services or social services preferred.
The position requires a working knowledge of modern office practices and procedures. This includes but is not limited to:
– Proficiency in using the Internet, Microsoft Office programs and general computer skills.
– Skill in operating office equipment such as copier, fax machine, scanners, etc.
Possess customer service skills necessary to provide a positive experience necessary when speaking to families and co-workers.
Spanish language skills preferred.

Maintains confidentiality of patient information.
Exercises professional judgment, courtesy, and professionalism in daily interactions with others.
Works both independently and as part of a team; establishes and maintains effective working relationships with health care team members.
Displays time management and organizational skills to consistently meet deadlines.
Performs other duties as required.
