POSITION SUMMARY
The Receptionist will assist patients with checking in for their appointments, collecting co-pays and balances, insurance verifications, scheduling follow up appointments, and updating patient information within the electronic medical record. They will be expected to speak both English and Spanish fluently to provide support for our patients and providers for patient visits and care coordination to provide an exceptional experience for our patients.

PRODUCTIVITY AND EXPECTATIONS:
The Receptionist is an essential component to the success of HPCHC. This position is expected to prioritize time and responsibilities in the following manner:
85%: Front Desk Activities
- Receptionist will speak to patients, guests, and employees with a high level of customer service ensuring they are provided a warm and welcoming greeting.
- Engage in conversation with patients and guests to connect them with the appropriate location, person, or services. Inform other employees or teams when they have a patient or guest in the lobby.
- Disperse and collect all required patient paperwork during check-in.
- Utilization of the electronic medical records system for patient accounts, appointments, recalls, balances, scanning, and other information.
- Collecting patient payment for co-pays and balances.
- Collecting and updating patient insurance and demographic information.
- Assisting patients with the financial services for billing and/ or insurance related questions.
10%: Extended Hours and Saturdays
- Ensure the telephones are answered and patients are assisted while following workflows.
- Input patient phone messages in HPCHC’s electronic medical records system.
- Give patients results that have been approved by their provider.
- Schedule appointments for medical, dental, and behavioral health providers.
5%: Other Office Duties
- Directing patients or future patients to necessary resources within HPCHC and also resources outside of the organization.
- Participates in departmental and general staff meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Two years of office or customer service experience preferred.
- The position requires a working knowledge of modern office practices and procedures. This includes but is not limited to:
– Proficiency in using the Internet, Microsoft Office programs and general computer skills.
– Skill in operating office equipment such as copier, fax machine, scanners, etc.
- Spanish Language skill preferred.

- Maintains confidentiality of patient information.
- Exercises professional judgment, courtesy, and professionalism in daily interactions with others.
- Works both independently and as part of a team; establishes and maintains effective working relationships with health care team members and diverse patient populations.
- Displays time management and organizational skills to consistently meet deadlines.
- Performs other duties as required.
