POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Clinical Operations provides administrative oversight and assistance to the clinical services department through management, oversight and leadership of support staff, supporting the center’s integrated medical, dental and behavioral health operations, and ensuring safe patient care is provided by qualified, competent support staff.

PRODUCTIVITY AND EXPECTATIONS:

The Director of Clinical Operations position is an essential component to the success of HPCHC. This position is expected to prioritize time and responsibilities in the following manner:

50%: Operations Management

  • In collaboration with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), ensures that patient access and flow is maximized through adequate staffing and efficient workflows to provide effective care and increased patient satisfaction.
  • Collaborates with the CMO to formulate and maintain provider schedules.
  • Ensure medical support staff are properly trained and receive proper trainings to maintain necessary skills; plans in-service training for staff members.
  • Ensure reception staff are properly trained and receive proper trainings to maintain necessary skills; plans in-service training for staff members
  • Ensures laboratory materials, tools, equipment, and other resources are managed efficiently and in accordance with safety protocols and guidelines.
  • Depending upon licensure requirements, may provide and manage direct patient care, within the licensee’s scope of practice, including physical examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnoses, and treatment for a specified patient population.
  • Performs daily managerial activities including developing policies and goals, leading staff meetings, and evaluating staff performance.
  • Collaborates with the CMO to develop and manage departmental budgets and related

20%: Leadership

  • Provides oversight of the Medical Operations Manager, Support Services Manager Medical Assistants, Patient Engagement Specialists, and Healthcare Navigators.
  • Conducts weekly one-on-one meetings with all direct reports.
  • Participates in interviews and hiring decisions for positions within assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Monitors and supports retention metrics for assigned departments.

10%: Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with High Plains associated programs and certifications to maintain the competitive edge in medical care. This includes but is not limited to: Quality Assurance and Improvement programs, patient quality measures, and Patient Centered Medical Home.
  • Responsible for State immunization program and disease reporting
  • Collaborates with the Director of Quality Improvement & Compliance on required reports and

20%: Strategy

  • Working towards provider and patient satisfaction. Develop team-based care strategies with providers. Working with providers to support their goals and objectives with patient goals and encounters.
  • Responsible for executing strategic plan assigned to position as approved by the BOD.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing, healthcare administration, or a related field
  • Active Colorado license as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse is preferred.
  • 7 years of experience in healthcare managing clinical operations with at least 3 years in a leadership role required.
  • Current Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) or within 90 days of hire required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of programs and Electronic Health Records (EHR)
  • Possess customer service skills necessary to provide a positive experience necessary when they speak to employees in person and on the phone.
  • Experience working with a diverse population and/or underserved populations preferred.
  • Spanish language skills preferred.

  • Works both independently and as part of a team; establishes and maintains effective working relationships with health care team members and diverse patient populations.
  • Displays time management and organizational skills to consistently meet deadlines.
  • Performs other duties as required.
