Radiology Technologist ($32.59 – $41.72 per hour)

POSITION SUMMARY

The Radiology Technologist provides radiology services to patients in a competent and courteous manner, as directed by providers and within the scope of their licensure.

the routine potential for exposure to bloodborne pathogens by means of blood and other potentially infectious material

throughout the course of normal job functions.

PRODUCTIVITY AND EXPECTATIONS:

The Radiology Technologist position is an essential component to the success of HPCHC. This position is expected to prioritize time and responsibilities in the following manner:

70%: Radiology Services

  • Perform routine x-ray procedures at a high-quality level to include chest, skull series, extremities, sinus, and abdominal imaging.
  • Ensure proper patient positioning and safety during radiologic procedures.
  • Maintain required logs including retakes, equipment maintenance, and certifications.
  • Transmit digital x-rays to the radiologist and ensure reports are received and populated in the EMR in a timely manner.
  • Monitor x-rays sent to radiologists to ensure timely report turnaround.
  • Wear radiation monitoring badges during all work hours and utilize proper techniques to minimize radiation exposure.
  • Maintain radiology equipment and ensure compliance with radiation safety and infection control standards.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation in the electronic medical record related to imaging procedures.
  • Other duties, including cross-training to perform basic clinical and ancillary duties within their scope of practice

30%: Medical Assistant/Clinical Support Duties

  • Assist providers and clinical teams before, during, and after patient appointments within the scope of certification and training.
  • Room patients in a courteous and professional manner and obtain and document vital signs.
  • Document patient chief complaint and assist with updating medical history, medication lists, and allergies.
  • Assist providers during patient visits and procedures as needed.
  • Perform CLIA-waived lab testing according to protocol.
  • Perform EKG testing as directed by providers.
  • Perform phlebotomy and assist with specimen collection and processing when needed.
  • Administer immunizations or injections as directed by licensed providers and within scope of certification.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
  • Participate in daily clinical team “huddles.”
  • Maintain and stock exam rooms and imaging areas.
  • Clean and sterilize equipment following infection control protocols.
  • Dispose of biohazardous waste according to established procedures.
  • Assist with maintaining vaccine storage logs and clinical supply inventory.
  • Support clinic quality improvement and patient-centered care initiatives as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Graduated from an approved course of study for Radiological Technology required.
  • Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required.
  • Current Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) or within 90 days of hire is required.
  • Math proficiency, attention to detail, and accurate computational skills is required.
  • Current Mammography Technologist preferred or willingness to obtain Mammography Technologist Certificate.
  • Ability to communicate, interact, problem solve and perform job functions with minimal supervision.
  • Spanish language skills preferred.

  • Displays time management and organizational skills to consistently meet deadlines.
  • Performs other duties as required.
